The Pohutukawa Coast is located on the south east coast of Auckland's Hauraki Gulf, one of the most picturesque corners of New Zealand's major city. Overlooking Waiheke Island with vistas towards Auckland City in the distance, the area encompasses the seaside settlement of Maraetai and the village of Beachlands.
The 5,000 residents enjoy a rural coastal lifestyle, yet remain easily accessible to Auckland City on a 30 minute trip on the Pine Harbour Ferry.
The bustling town centre of Howick is a short 15 minute drive, as is Botany Town Centre with its shops, cinema, bowling alley, restaurants and cafes.
The Pohutukawa Coast Community Association (PCCA), established in 2000, is a community group representing the interests and aspirations of the residents of Beachlands and Maraetai,two coastal rural settlements of approximately 6,500 people in total which enjoy a special location in an area of high natural beauty.
The PCCA provides a forum for community representation with local Councils and other agencies charged with planning and development for the area. The organisation works with the community and local government to promote and encourage local interest in the sea, beaches, reserves and parks in the area, for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
The PCCA's vision is the enhancement of our lifestyle through the sustainable management of the environment while retaining the local character of the Pohutukawa Coast area.

Beachlands and Maraetai are located around 40 kilometres south east of Auckland, New Zealand's largest city. The area is surrounded by beaches - a popular spot for visitors all year round.
Visitor to the area usually arrive along the main Beachlands-Maraetai Road from Whitford, or along the picturesque coastal route from the village of Clevedon. The villages are 15 minutes from the Southern Motorway or 30 minutes by ferry into Auckland city. |
